As a part of Operation Homefront, you can also make a small contribution to Boost the Economy by placing a second stamp on your envelope. The postal service has been seriously impacted as a result the after-effects of terrorism. It's just 37 cents on just one envelope...but if enough letters are sent, we can make a sizeable impact.
Colors Across America
The idea is very simple. America is proud of the Red, White and Blue. Let's get our colors everywhere. Start with raising a flag at home, getting a couple decals for your car windows, maybe a small flag flying on your car or one standing on your desk. Display Red, White and Blue ribbons on doors, mailboxes and the trees in your yard. Wear on on your shirt or blouse.
If you send an email to ColorsAcrossAmerica@freedomsfury.org and get on the mailing list, you will be notified as community, regional and national Patriot days are organized. On these days, special events will be coordinated to get the colors out in force.
I would also like to invite you to take a picture of your best Red, White and Blue decorations for display in the Operation Freedom's Fury - Spirit of America section. A special photo gallery area is being created just for those of us who love to show our pride.
Postcards for Patriotism (This has been delayed - in need of a quality printer)
Contributions in this section help in four ways at once. First, purchase of these patriotic card sets help to fund the operation of this site. Second, they help to promote pride in America by sending them to family and friends. Third, it helps the Postal Service reduce the financial impact suffered as a result of deploying systems designed to protect us. Finally, there is another option that lets our troops know ow much we care. Due to enhanced security measures, programs of the past where the public could write to any soldier have been curtailed. This has resulted on not being able to do alot for the troops directly. Therefore, we are coordinating the delivery of Postcard care packages that servicemembers, and their families at home, can use to stay in touch with each other. You can order a set and we'll get it delivered through secured channels.
The Families Left Behind and The Military Family Crisis Center
A tremendously impactful contribution can be made by sharing your appreciation with the families of those who are serving abroad. As a family member of someone deployed, life become immensely difficult. Often times, deployed members had part-time jobs to help ends meet. Others, especially members of Reserve and National Guard units, have had to leave jobs which results in household income reductions of as much as 50%.
A crisis center is being created to help match family member emergency situations with those of us in a position to help out. There is much more to do here, but as a starting point, we CAN lend a hand to the family support groups, pledge donations of household goods, furniture, gift certificates, financial assistance donations and free service/repairs offers of assistance.
